Performance characteristics are behaviors that an agency wants an employee to exhibit.  Performance characteristics can be tied to a  position, a department, or the entire agency.

Performance characteristics are typically rated as acceptable or unacceptable.

An agency may weigh performance characteristics in the final score of a performance appraisal if it has been included in the agency's EPMS policy.
