In conjunction with National Public Service Recognition Week and State Employee Recognition Day, the State of South Carolina is pleased to announce a new discount card program for state employees. This program will allow employees to save money on many everyday purchases.

During the month of May, employees will receive a PerksCard to use for purchases with local and national vendors.


Q: Where can eligible employees save?

A: To learn who the participating vendors are, eligible employees can register at www.perkscard.com using the card code and then search by street address, city, state, and/or zip code to find the closest discounts. PerksCard members save on everything from dry cleaning to auto repair to home improvements to eating out at local restaurants.

National discounts are also available from PerksCard, allowing eligible employees to save at Blockbuster Video, AAMCO Transmissions, AVIS, ING Direct, Reebok Outlet Stores, Jackson Hewitt and many, many more. Some of these may be available as a "Show & Save." Others may require internet coupon codes, toll-free or online reservations or downloaded coupons. Please refer to the PerksCard website for more details. There are many ways to save with PerksCard!

PerksCard participants can save right from the comfort of their own home at the “Perks Store,” an online shopping facility where they can purchase discounted video rentals, movie passes and gift cards from national vendors. They can save up to 33% purchasing through the Perks Store! You can access the Perks Store at www.perkscard.com.

Q: Is there a charge to eligible employees to participate in the PerksCard employee discount program?

A: There is no charge for eligible employees to participate in this program; however, if an employee loses a card, a replacement fee will be required to receive another card. Employees can call PerksCard at 1-877-253-7100 and speak with a membership consultant for a card replacement.

Q: How do employees use their PerksCard after they receive it?

A: Go to www.perkscard.com.

  • Click on the “new member registration” link in the upper right hand corner.


  • Enter your card code in the field provided and click “Submit.” (Find your card code on the back of your PerksCard.)


  • Complete the login form and click “Submit.”


  • Enter your username and password in the member login section in the lower right corner of PerksCard homepage. Now you are ready to start searching for discounts.


  • Q: Will employees need to show a state identification or employee verification card to use the PerksCard?

    A: Just show the PerksCard – no additional identification or verification cards should be needed.

    Q: Will the card expire? If so, how will it be renewed reactivated?

    A: The PerksCard card is valid for one year from the date of issue of the username/password. Employees will be notified of the procedure to reactivate the card at the end of the one year period.

    Q: Can others in the eligible employee’s family use the card or does the employee need a card for each family member?

    A: One membership entitles the eligible employee to one card that may be used by other members of the family.

    Q: How do eligible employees find a local or national vendor?

    A: On the PerksCard website, PerksCard participants can click on Discounts, view Perks National Sponsors and follow any link or use the Search Feature to find participating vendors in the State and local area.

    Q: Who are some local vendors?

    A: The number of local vendors is constantly changing because PerksCard is working hard to add local vendors that state employees do business with everyday to its long list of vendors. Some of the local vendors are: Pulliam Ford; Lexington Cleaners; and Hidden Valley Golf Club in Gaston.

    Q: How does eligible employees use the Search Feature?

    A: Eligible employees can use the Search Feature on the PerksCard website to enter category, town, state and/or zip code and to check surrounding towns on the PerksCard website and travel destinations.

    Q: How can employees activate their card if they do not have internet access?

    A: Employees can call PerksCards at 1-877-253-7100 to register with a membership consultant. In addition, many public libraries provide computers with internet access for public use.

    Q: How do PerksCard participants recommend a vendor to be included as a participant in the PerksCard discount program?

    A: To recommend a vendor for PerksCard participation, go to www.perkscard.com and complete a short questionnaire. A PerksCard representative will contact the vendors and provide them with the steps necessary to become a local PerksCard vendor.
